Siskiyou Smokejumper Base – A Proud History
$15.00 / unit(s)

Plus delivery.  Sales tax included in price.

Fascinating history of the Siskiyou Smokejumper Base in Cave Junction, Ore. – a base that owed its establishment to the Japanese efforts to start massive wildfires during World War II. Includes historical crew photos, statistics from the base's operational years, as well as background on the Siskiyou Smokejumper Museum which occupies the site of the former base.

The base existed from 1943 until 1981, but during those years had a strong and proud presence for the U.S. Forest Service.

This 84-page book is the first of the Smokejumper History Project, created to develop a record of the individual bases. Other base histories are in the works.
