Gamologie II is an intermediate level course in game development where students learn concepts related to developing videogames such as player interfaces, displaying graphics, optional 3-D development, and some basic game mechanics by creating videogames of their own.  

At the end of this 12-week course you will have completed up to three hands-on projects. This course is for students interested in becoming a game designer, game artist, or game programmer.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Grade Level: 4th Grade and above.
  • Completion of Mathobotix Codologie or Gamologie I and/or demonstrable prior Scratch, Minecraft and/or Python Programming skills.
Objectives: Gamologie© "Imagine-Code-Play-Share" -Explore "mini-game project" based hands-on labs. Create your own story, build your own game characters, and make your own game. Learn to program and develop computational skills while having fun. Play and Share!
  • Explore game genres and learn to apply Game Development Life Cycle©  (GDLC)

  • Review game development platforms and technologies

  • Develop up to 3 mini games.

  • Explore 3-D game objects.

  • Apply Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, and Soft skills (STEAMS)

  • Keep developer logs and document each game project

  • Demonstrate the games to peers and guest audience
Technologies and Game Development Platform: Minecraft, Python 3.x, PyGame, and Unity
Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced level courses available. Students are placed in the appropriate level based on their entry level knowledge and skills.

Lab Location: Irvine and Los Alamitos

Course Duration: 12 weeks/3 months

Grade: 4 and above

Schedule:

Weekdays (Mon - Fri):

  • Period I: 10 AM to 11.40 AM (K - 12th grade - Reserved for Home School and Independent Study Students)
    Period II: 3.00 PM to 4.40 PM (K - 7th grade)
    Period III: 4.40 PM to 6.20 PM (K - 7th grade)
    Period IV: 6.20 PM to 8.00 PM (8th - 12th grade)

Saturdays:

  • Period I: 9:00 AM to 10:40 AM
  • Period II: 11:00 AM to 12:40 PM
  • Period III: 1:00 PM to 2:40 PM

Additional Notes: Year-Round Open Enrollment. Choose 1 period per week. Class Participation is Once a week for 100 minutes. 3 month course fee: $580. Lab fee $40 applies. One mentor for every 3 students. 2 make-up classes allowed. Must complete course within a 14-week period from the first day of the class. No-prorating for missed classes. After-School Class Registration: 

STEP 1: Download & Complete the Student Registration Form & Liability Waiver and Talent Release Form (PDF).

STEP 2: eMail admin@mathobotix.com or call 949-857-1419 to confirm class schedule.

STEP 3: Visit the lab and Pay Class Fee, turn in the completed forms, at least 1 week before class start date.

STEP 4: Begin attending Class.
