We are a small 3 man band of part time designers and wargamers. Since 3d Printers became more affordable we have been looking for ways to add miniatures to our collections by printing them. Instead of paying ridiculous $30 - $50 per unit, we now build models for around $0.10 in plastic. This has allowed us to field armies we would not have normally purchased, increase the size of our main armies, and add allied units at very little cost.
The quality is not as good as injection moulded, but our designs have been worked on to give a very reasonable quality miniature for the table, especially for bulk infantry units. We have cut the models to be posable, and added variants of torsos, legs, weapons and arms for the models and collected them together in popular figure variants.
We print our models on the Flashforge Finder, on hyper resolution. Each mini takes about 1 hour to print and uses about 1 meter of plastic (300 meter spool for $20 yields about 300 minis).
We are continuing to add to our range, and constantly refining the models we have. As printer technology inproves, so will the end result.
