The GreenSeeder is a hand-planting device developed by Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The GreenSeeder is effective for planting corn and other large seeded vegetable crops like peas, beans and other round seeded varieties. With the changing of a drum, the GreenSeeder also makes precision, side dress applications of urea fertilizer(45-0-0) to growing plants. The GreenSeeder is an appropriate tool for home gardeners and small scale producers and marginalized smallholder farmers in the developing world. The GreenSeeder helps marginalized farmers by easing the strenuous labor of planting and reducing skin contact with treated seeds.
This basic GreenSeeder product includes the planting tip and corn drum only. A handle made of scedule 40 PVC and a urea metering drum may be purchased as additions through www.smallfarmtoolbox.com. Users may also opt to construct their own handle out of 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe.
